Do you have one of these?
Sorry you're hitting some rough patches in the project.
I'd offer some advice.. but you're further along the curve than me.
cheers,

I haven't got one of those, either. But- he's in white-face. Isn't that racist in some fashion? Or is that reserved only for black-face?
Anyway- If I got a charcol canister, what do I attatch the other end too? A breather tube on the fuel tank? _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

No.
He is x-ray Domo.. if you look closely.. you can see the top of his arm-bone by the window's edge.
The charcoal canister in a late model Vanagon (digifant) has four tubes.
Pg. 20.33, Bentley.
One tube on top is split at a valve, becoming two tubes.. with one tube going to dist vacuum advance.. and the other going to air intake.
The other tube coming from the top of the canister goes to the tank vent line.
Tube from bottom goes to air cleaner.
I was planning on using the SVX canister on my project.. but do not recall how it plumbs.
I can pull that page from the SVX shop manual and email it if you think that may help with your question.

Yup, I see it.
I would be interested in seeing the SVX info, however, I think the SVX and EJ30 are such different creatures, it won't be the same. I will look through my H6 shop manual... _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

I am so pissed off today!
I finished the drilling and bolted up the subframe to the new brackets. My boss called me to tell me my co-worker went to the hospital with a bee sting, and won't be welding for me today (he's fine, BTW).
So, I crack the tranny open to have a look.
This thrust bearing is DEFINATELY seated!
Just to be sure, I took another pic:
So, I put it all together, bleed the NEW STEEL BRAIDED clutch line, and push on the clutch petal.
IT WORKED! The cluch petal worked! WOO-HOO!
I let off and step on it again:
WTF!?!?!?!??
So, I take the whole fucking tranny apart! Just pull the tranny right off! Guess what?
EVERYTHING WORKS FINE!!!! Everything moves smoothly, no catches, no hang ups, nothing!
Am I missing parts? Am I missing something?
As of yet, I still have not heard back from Richard regarding getting a 'push' clutch bellhousing (going on 3 weeks now...), and I could not reach him by phone today.
I don't like this system, I don't know this system very well, and I would rather burn a clutch than blow a tranny (that just doesn't sound right...).

Ok, so in preparation for a three week holiday in Santa Cruz, I have re-assembled Domo, minus axles, and pushed him out of the shop today.
I installed a NEW steel-braided clutch hose, and gave it another try. I have NO DOUBT in my mind that the clutch is installed correctly. The SECOND steel-braided clutch hose blew out as well.
How much fucking pressure does this clutch require?
Why didn't anyone mention I might need a 1000PSI hydrolic line from a forklift?
Anyone know what kind of hose I will need?
Anyway, this is it for me untill 22 September. See you then! _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

I have used stock hydraulic clutch lines with all my RJES conversions...no issues.
They are all three barb fittings and are not rated over 1000lbs.
Not sure what type of hose you are using, but perhaps using -AN line and reusable fittings like Earl's or Aeroquip may be best. |

my teflon with steel braid is rated at 2400 psi for my ps and brake lines.
your hoses blew like they were home depot or something. the ss jacket really needs an abrasion sleeve orer that as well. if that jacket abrades through in the future, your bloody fingers will remind you also of the time you ran your hand over that worn out steel belted radial too.
keep trucking domo----youre doing the lords work here at the institute |

Ok, so I finished the van last weekend. I spoke with RJES just before leave, and he says the clutch fork has extra splines to accomodate petrol/ diesel trannys.
Turns out, I had it set for diesel, so the slave was all the way out! THATS why I kept blowing lines!
So, I got an 8mm hard line, put three coils in it, flared it, installed it. Problem solved!
BTW- HOLY FUCKING SHIT IS IT FUN TO DRIVE!!!!!
Dinner time, more later... _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

First of all.. Congratulations on getting the van running !
Don't feel bad about the clutch issue you had, I did the same thing, installed the clutch arm on the fork wrong..
Tried the clutch padel, rock hard..WTF ? i said too. I actually took my motor and transmission out, seperated them to verify that I didn't do something wrong. Then Derek reminded me that the RJES fork shaft has extra splines...
So I reinstalled the clutch arm correctly on the fork and everything was fine...
Again congratulations..

This is what I did. Only this happened two months ago, and I got no response to my questions.
It was only after getting Rich on the phone after two weeks of trying that I was clued in on this. _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ
