That is going to be a neat ride. It is going to be a race at every light.
Reminds me of this one a bit a small car with a big motor is my favorite.

Thank you. I'll take my thread back now, please.
I'm getting my motor ready, and I've hit a snag. I am missing the two small metal hoses that attach to the thermostat housing. Could anyone give me some sizes for them? The Subaru dealer here says I have to buy a complete bottom end for them. They are not available any other way. I say fuck that! I'm going to try to find some copper line to fit in there. _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

Hi Nicodemus
Luckily you don't need those two little pipes, they are eliminated with the high ground clearance package. I sent two small threaded plugs for which you will need to tap the holes.
Do you still have the instructions I sent ? see #12
12) ..Stuff some rags into the hole where the thermostat goes. I
supplied two small plugs to fills these holes, you will need to buy or
borrow some taps to thread the holes for these plugs. One is a 3/8"
NPT, and one a 1/4" NPT ..NPT is National Pipe Thread " If you want
to plug the holes another way that is up to you..The plugs should get
some pipe sealant tape when installing them. Be carefull not to tap
the holes too deep. Keep any shavings from falling into the motor.
13) Once the holes are plugged, apply sealant between the spacer and
the motor and also between the spacer and the thermostat outlet.
Install the thermostat ( replace with new one if needed ) using the
longer bolts..Allow the sealant to dry apppox 2 hours or so before
tightening the bolts
Please email me directly for faster response... |

Ok, so today went real well! I remembered to bring all my tools and all my parts to the shop with me, and I found some silicone, too!
I have completed the first page of tasks, and I eagerly await the next list.
Photos:
One of the muffler brackets fitted. ( Icouldn't find the right bolts/ spacers for the other side)
The thermostat housing collar,
Changed the angle of the heat exchanger,
The new oilpan, with the new pick-up screen installed,
And I found this random wire cut:
It sucks having only Sunday and Monday for this. Whats worst is that everything is closed here on Sunday! _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

Domo,
I cross my fingers for you going forward. Hope to see you either in Hockenheim or on the Subi&Friends-Meeting.
Or before that on a small jump from Augsburg to Nuernberg for an espresso ... with the T3svx it's not that far away
regards

No,
I believe that's the oil pan from Burley ... I remember seeing some CAD drawings, but have not yet seen the complete product.
another reason to fire up the engine and make myself on the way up to Domo's place

The plate that replaces the stock pan for ground clearance is designed by Eric Abercrombie/Wolfsburg4x4 as are the parts being used to convert this engine.
CAD drawings????
It would be best to discuss that with Eric! |

Insyncro,
sorry if I'm mixxing things up there --- way to much coffee in the morning I assume
so, I didn't want to give credits to the "wrong" person ... but perhaps they all deserve it one way or the other ...
CAD drawings: I have in mind I saw (somewhere?) a CAD 3D-drawing of a oilpan between the engine mounts. It's manufactured for the EJ22, the SVX was a drawing (and not yet manufactured) ... and based on that I made a
so, if it wasn't Burley -- excuse me.

Hi
The picture makes it appear that the oil pan is completely removed but only the bottom service piece is replaced which results in better ground clearance.
Oil capacity is reduced slightly like many other shortened oil pans.
I believe the cad drawing oil pan mentioned is for the svx motor and incorporates a support for the motor using the stock carrier bar.

No worries.
Just trying to give credit where credit is due.
Burley does have a 6 quart mount and pan system available.
Not pictured here though.
I do not believe it would work with the EZs.
That design was a sharred project I believe. |

Relooking at the pics I see there is more room on the oil pan than the EJ engines. That EZ engine is looking sweet!! _________________ 87 gl powerd buy 2.5subaru

So, I finally found a place to do my engine swap! I have a coworker to help me, and we will be doing it in a barn, next to the tractor. We plan on starting in two weeks.
Eric, I got your box the other day. Cheers Mate! You don't want to know what that number costs over here! _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ
