I plan to document the progress on our 1972 beetle restoration.

Noah's Standard Beetle arrives at its new home. This beetle was purchased new by Mr. Lewis M. Parrish 2202 Huckleberry Pasadena Texas 77502 09-19-1972. Noah is the third owner.

Removal of old floor pans. After sandblasting the chassis we discovered small pin holes in the pans. After much discussion and reviewing the forums, we elected to purchase new pans from Wolfburg West.

Trial fit of seats on newly installed seat rails. The seat rails have been checked for squareness, however the seats are very difficult to move. Any ideas on what would make them move easier? I have lubed the plastic guides with WD40.

Looks good! Fast progress. As for lube, try whit lith grease, you can get it at most hardware stores in a spray can.

Good stuff.
I can remember when my pop dragged home my first car.
That was nine cars and 11-years ago now.
Good luck on this project -- you seem to be on the right track.

Thanks. Noah is the fourth of five children. I really enjoy these times and it allows me to spend hours and hours with my kids teaching them valuable skills they will use all their life! This is my first experience with a air cooled VW and I am really very impressed with the design and ease of repair. I am really tempted to try and find another one for my daughter. Working on it is so easy that it is fun! My daily driver has been a VW since 1987. Today I own a 2009 Jetta. Most of them get driven well over 200,000 before replacement. Thanks for your comments and encouragement.

Made progress today, Chassis, and Front Axle assembly are painted and ready for reassembly. Next we have to use seam sealer to seal the new floor pans.

Noah's birthday present! Found this while combing the junkyard and had to buy it for him. I could not believe the condition. He will just have to get use to AM talk radio.
