Is there a way to do this without pulling the carbs off?

The problem is that the carbs have bad gas in them which the engine will not burn.

Take the 6 carb top screws out, remove the top to one side and siphon the gas outta there. Takes about 3 minutes, done it a few times myself.

take them off. if the gas is that old you might want to clean them out anyway? depends what kind of gas was left in there.?and how long?the gas here in cali. turns into a hard white substance which is hard to get out. must be the junk they put in the gas here? since the 90's? i was able to start a 59 bus with a full tank of gas from the 70's? or so. you cant do that today with the crap they give us! it goes bad in one year.! take them off it's not hard.

Seriously, unless they have not been on the car real long, I would just pull them - only 2 nuts per carb. Then you can replace fuel lines if needed - can clean them out well, etc. This is one of those situations that the quicker and easier solution is going to bite you in the ass later.

Do it right the first time - pull the carbs, clean the hell out of them and then you know what you are working with. This is my creed and I am still kicking myself in the ass for not "doing what I say" with my wifes 61's front brakes. I ended up pulling them apart 2 times before I bit the bullet and redid everything (which I normally do).

Undo the 14 or 15mm brass nut on the side of the float bowls and they will drain...
