so the A/C unit does not work and i want to remove it ,at the front its conected to the radiator ,so i have to drain the coolant? and do i need special plugs to plug up the hose conections? the rest seems fairly staight forward, although the bentely is very vauge on this subject. _________________ Ivan

Everyone makes their own choices, but have you looked into resurrecting the system? When working properly, they're really nice. I run mine on a inexpensive cocktail of propane and isobutane, and just love the feel of a cool breeze blowing on my neck during hot Cascadian days...all three of them. _________________ Casey--

Never. Won't happen. I love controversy. _________________ '87 Westy Weekender - daily driver on salt-free roads

If you are getting rid of it, pull the condenser out from in front of the radiator. If I recall, I pulled the radiator to accomplish this. Not too bad, although you may have rust issues in VT.
If the A/C is abandoned the condenser is just a cooling system obstruction. Get rid of it.
The A/C knob on the dash will still offer you manual control of the radiator fan if you need it in the future. I use mine when I see traffic backing up ahead of me. _________________ '87 Westy Weekender - daily driver on salt-free roads

I wouldn't go to all the trouble to pull the condenser, just remove the hoses from it. No need to block off anything as nothing will leak (assuming the system is already empty of refrigerant). If you remove the hoses and wires you are going to need to seal the holes in the body off to keep the vermin out. |

Warning. Make sure your AC system is not still charged before you go pulling hoses. The escaping gas can cause bodily harm. The safe way is to have an AC shop recover the gas. Otherwise, I think the Bently has instructions involving running a hose to a bucket of water to safely discharge the gas. |

iv never used it becouse it never worked. San Diego is not that humid, we live in Ocean Beach so the ocean breeze keeps it cool, although when we left to drive to vermont we could have used it , it was August and as we got to La Paz in AZ it was 110, boy were we cooking, one night on the colorado river and we left in a hurry! But the A/C was shot the guy we bought the bus from drained the system becouse motor did not function , it didnt even have a belt, so now its gone, done in a day. _________________ Ivan

Does the interior fan still work? Moving air is better than nothing. _________________ LEARN TO SELF RESCUE
