In the classified Scott at Turbovan has 85 Vanagon for sale with a driver seat from a Volvo, described only as:

" Super Deluxe Volvo Leather Driver’s Seat..."

I realize that I could have pmed or emailed Scott directly however I thought the answer might be of interest to others. Also should anyone else have done that adaptation, their experience would be most appreciated.

What year and model Volvo ?
What modification(s) would be needed to perfect the installation ?
How high do we sit compared to the OEM seat ?
How thick is the back as I am limited in backward movement by the rear facing seat in mine. ?
Are those power/heated seats ?
Is there a problem installing both driver and front passenger seats?
and lastly is it a worthy modification as we lose the armrests.

Another interesting detail in Scott's ad is the mention that he replaced the windscreen with a -- US -- made part.

I guess it might also be of interest to know where he got this US windscreen, how can we tell the difference from the honorable comrade mandarin piece and the price difference too as well as the advantages of a good old US part.

Thanks

My guess is that the seat is out of that Volvo 740 right outside the window. It looks just like the wagon I bought for my daughter back in the day. Those seats should be heated and more than likely manual. They're comfy, but the leather doesn't hold up well.

yes, that is a volvo 7XX series seat.

Most if not all had heating in the bottom and lower back. These heaters could easily be added to a vanagon seat, probably. Available from IPD.

I'd say mid-'80's; the one we bought was an '86
