At least those dicks give you some respect and leave you some comfort room.
I'm always amazed at how small an ACVW looks compared to the modern cars and trucks on the road these days.
I attended a third floor meeting this week and looked out the window at my car from above. Even the econ boxes these tree huggers drive to work makes my car look tiny. Sorry no pics. Can't take them inside the security perimeter.

Yeah everyone is really cool about it. They all like the car. Here's a better picture that shows the size difference of these cars. This was in San Francisco.

No beetle for me today. Took the Jeep to work. I try to avoid driving my bug in the rain if possible.

Based on your tach reading it appears you are only going 70 because you are coasting down a hill. _________________

CAG, your not the only one daily driving a classic beetle. I drive mine everyday rain or shine. I just don't post that I drive it that often.
I have posted a few vid's of my fun driving that had a few readers reaching for their glycerin pills to stave off that heart attack. Lol
I drive 8 miles a day round trip back and forth from the house.
I love driving my beetle. It is the simpleness that makes me want to keep driving this little car.
If it breaks, I can fix it. Unlike my Pontiac G8. That car, I have no clue what to do when the engine fux up.
So keep driving and posting your adventures with your 66. I like your threads.
I wonder whatever happened to your engine build thread? Just askin

So we finally had one of the allotted 65 beautiful days we get here in the PNW. The other 300 are just gloomy! So I took the 67 out for a drive to Bald Peak park. When I got there a few folks gathered around my beetle and peppered me with questions. I happily answered them and took a couple of shots of the car. See below for your visual enjoyment.
The guy next to the bike in the background had a 67 years ago. He really liked my car.
This was on the drive back home from Bald Peak. You can see Mt. Hood in the background. Yes it's an active volcano
I didn't get a pic of it but there was a guy with a Urel motorcycle complete with a side car. That thing looks exactly like an old BMW. His was a 2016 and clean as any bike I have ever seen on the road.
Anyway, Get out and drive that car! It's no fun to just stare at it, worrying about that inevitable rock chip. _________________ I have learned over the years.

In the vid below. I am driving on Oregon back roads at a high rate of speed. This starts with an up hill climb. Then through some of the numerous turns that I just love to drive. I do this run almost every weekend rain of shine
Be gentle. This is my first YouTube video post.

This is one exhilarating video. I like bombing around on back roads as much as the next guy, your Bug is obviously built to do this. Must be a hoot to drive. I get mine over 60 and it seems to skip around from tire to tire - but its stock, besides, around here there are too many moose, deer, bears, and Amish buggies to drive safely in a "spirited" fashion. Thanks for posting, at least I can live vicariously through your video. |

Just bought Peppy about a month ago now. He came with a 1500 SP and I've since found a 1200 on Craigslist, swapped that in and have been driving him everyday since!
*EDIT
Forgot to mention specs!
Car - '64 Deluxe
Engine - 1200 converted to 12V (in the process of rebuilding the 1500 that the car came with)
Trans - Original, as far as I know
Tires - 195s
MPG - 20-23, mostly city driving with a few short freeway jaunts
Miles - About 10-25 miles a day with a ferry ride
Satisfaction level - So far, so good!
Wish list - A little more pep would be nice, but the 40HP gets around alright. A working stereo, a backseat, new front seat cushions and covers, correct exhaust with heater boxes (currently running a bus exhaust), some sound deadening material and a headliner.

I always hear a lot of people talk about how much maintenance is involved in keeping an air cooled Vw running and it drives me nuts. I guess it's not as easy for some, but I have daily driven Vw's for over 20 years, and the only issue I have had was dealing with the hot weather here in the summer. By dealing with the heat, I mean not having ac to keep myself cool lol. I sold a 66 I used to own to a guy that drove the car from Salinas, CA to Pennsylvania with 0 issues. If you use quality parts, build the engine properly or have one built by someone with a good reputation, it's cheaper to drive an older car. There's only so many things to break on these cars, newer cars have millions of things to go wrong, you need a computer most of the time to diagnose the problem, and sometimes the problem can't even be found! I've had a newer car the past 6 months to try something different, and it just doesn't feel right. I guess I like the tinkering and the feel of an old car. Nothing compares to the feeling of driving an old Vw. |

Same car new paint. This is from a trip to Lake Champlain from Connecticut. Shortly after I did drive daily for a week while my daily driver was in the shop.in the rain and at night. I forget how much fun that was;) I also forgot to close all the heater vents so I could have more windshield clear; ) It's kind of a fair weather daily driver for the summer this year. Hopefully I'll get to put some miles on it but nothing like when I used it for a year straight.

Going on 7 months now.😁 I just calculated some numbers: 127 trips to and from work, 23 trips to the gas station minus 1or 2(I didn't always keep track), 15 trips to restaurants, 34 trips shopping (not just for groceries) and 1trip to get a Christmas tree. |
8 months and going for going for 9.
