Nice that they included a case of beer (or wine) with their luggage shot. Cool

Maybe I should take their words about tow rating with the same suspicion for fast.

Yep, factory new replacement!
Now you can’t even find a rebuilt fulla near-death gears for $1,000.

Ask any 65 year old fella what he was able to do back in his prime.
When his parts were all new.
And how many times he could do it.

But if he did it often, he aged faster than if he lived an easier life.
And if he took care of himself too

Which most Original owners did not maintain their gearbox at all, nada.
So if you tow now, remember that your trans is an old man in poor health (unmaintained).
Then the 2nd/3rd/4th owners put in double the HP and change the gear oil for the very first time.
Sometimes after hearing its death rattle.
But this time they put expensive oil in.
Not poking at any one person, everybody’s doing it.

Yes they could tow 2tons for awhile.
They could tow 1ton much farther.
And maintenance would be wise for this heavy duty-cycle.
Now after 200,000 miles, if you tow 2000 lbs, you’re gonna give your antique a heart attack.
And thats with a 90hp wbx.
I see people towing other vans, that’s 2tons.
Even if you own a transmission shop thats a costly tow.

In fact may be 2500 kgr., (having 1000 kgr. over the rear axle), as you can see here:

Very Happy

For a Passat Syncro may be 2000 kgr:

And the sheriff knows it:

Wear may limit these figures, as it is valid for any other car.
