Doing a web search of part number shown in first image I'm getting hits for Hella auto alarm

Doing same for second shows similar. Might be this. Google translate of description shows

I am offering a new (without original packaging) pulse module for towing protection for a Hella car alarm system. This is a private sale, therefore no return, guarantee, warranty, or the like.

it would be fun to repurpose the towing sensor so it plays a sad violin song every time the van breaks down and gets towed away...

Well that's weird. It looks factory installed. There is a key to the right of the driver's door that it seems connected too?
I'd like to remove it, for an aux battery, but I am a little intimidated as the wiring runs up into the dash....

Suggestions?
