Very nice truck. Really makes me appreciate the beauty of a stock type 2.

Thanks for the compliments. 400 mile round trip run to the VW Harvest there and back on the same day... No real issues, just need to address a leaky axle seal and what sounds like a front shock "thump."

Still working on little things, near 100% !

Good quality wrap kit from JOGR. I can't sew well, but got it done.

What did you use for the paper tube for the back seat heat? Did you find it somewhere?

Beautiful looking insulation against that pretty Dove Blue paint! I still haven't completed the install of my Neil Pickett set, I've only wrapped the flex tubes to the heater boxes in the rear (I've got a 36hp motor and boxes). I'm going to do a little overkill with the rest and and instead of just laying on my back and sewing those wraps on, I'm going to first wrap the metal tubes tightly with a thin aluminum wrapped bubble sheet insulation, and then wrap and sew the outer insulation wrap over that. It should keep the hot air in the tubing nice and hot into the front and rear cabs on my '59 DC.

Were those bands and clamps easy-enough to install around the cloth insulation? I'm not looking forward to that! Any helpful suggestions/tips?

Thanks Bill, doesn't get that cold here, but probably a good idea. Less painful if you install while still on the rotisserie. Definitely before the front axle is installed. I used spring clips to hold the wrap together once I got it in place so I didn't need to hold and sew. The straps were easy once I figured out how the work. There are little marks on the strap that give you measurements, you have to fold a minimum of two marks over the clamp, pull the band around the duct, and then pull through the turnbuckle. Roll the turnbuckle, and it clamps down. As another described an allen wrench turns it easily. I then trimmed down the tail. I will add some photos of how the bands work to the heater wrap thread.

Clocked 3000 miles on the odometer. Several long distance runs, including a 600 mile round trip. Replaced the front shocks, still have a thump when going over large bumps that I need to narrow down. Only real issue was an exhaust leak, problem was narrowed to the nuts coming off the front heater box connection.

All tuned up, ready to make the Dallas run...550 miles round trip. DC wont stay nice forever, but I sure enjoy driving it! Very Happy

Could be, thought it was a bad shock, need to put it in the air and take a look.

Missing bolts will cause an exhaust leak... (I replaced with copper exhaust bolts, upper bolt is a PITA with the engine in the bus).

Need to redo that safety wire on the shift coupler, so it puts a twist tension on the head of the bolt. If that fastener loosens up a fraction of a turn it can make a mess of the shift linkage. BTDT!

It goes around the linkage and then back through the bolt. Can you post a picture or link of the proper method? Thanks.

Had the pleasure of meeting Carl Fehres at the last Houston Coffee and Cars. Was very cool to use the Double Cab for a model's back drop.

Love your DC - a truly inspirational build.
Where did you get your mirrors please? I bought a pair of the same ones used for my '57 11 window, but one got broken and I can't find a replacement anywhere! Thank you!

Your Double Cab looks great! I'm going to use your thread as template for mine. I'm in the (slow) process of restoring my '60 Crew. Part of the way through your build you asked if anyone had documented replacing the rear load bed separator. Did you get a response? Did you happen to document it on your build? I have a pretty rusted out panel and I'm trying to figure out what I'm in for.
