IMHO the clear makes a big difference. Like the what motor oil is the best question, when you start asking which paint, you will get a different answer from every person you ask.
Personally, I am not a painter, I let the shop choose the materials, opted for a better clear, and let them get it done. Same with the Single Stage vs Base/Clear argument. I found a good shop and let the pro decide.
In the end, the paint work and quality is better than on our 2013 GTI!  |
Thanks. I was just curious what they specifically used. I do my own paint and I prefer single stage having done both. I was just curious what brand. I used PPG Concept on my oval and it turned out great, but I used a cheaper gun. I'll be painting my truck this fall and was just curious.

Tucked back in my garage and working on assembly...
Started on the pedestal and rear seat, mostly so I could move them inside the cab and make more room in the garage. Of course, to close up the fuel tank, I had to run the main wiring harness... etc, etc, etc.
Fuel tank installed, fuel tank covers reinstalled, added felt per OG (thanks for the solder burn tip Bullibill), rear seat installed (rubber seat stops, floor plugs, soooo many details....!)

* New wiring harness installed, and 90% complete (had to extend the fuel tank sender wire as the fuel tank is in a different location than a bus...).
-headlights
-turn signals
-speedo
-fuel gauge
-switches
-Wiper assembly/motor
-Neiman steering lock
-etc, etc, etc,
Need to install tail lights, battery cables, and battery. Then I can test the connections.
I used a Wolfsburg West wiring harness, really pleased with the quality, I will post a separate thread with my thoughts.
Broke the tab on my emergency flasher relay, if you have one for sale, please PM me.
