I recently rebuilt my dell 40's for my 2054cc engine and when I give it gas and rev it up, it says rev'd for a while and then eventually idles down.
I have it jetted with 200 main/air, 170 main/gas and 55 idle. The carbs are synched. I have the mixture control screw backed out 2 1/2 turns and also tried it with 3 turns (didn't make a difference). I also get an occasional carb back fire as well. Am I running it to lean? What could be causing this? Thanks! Jeff

You've got a vacuum leak somewhere.

get a can of carb cleaner and spray the carbs and mani while its idling. the idle will shoot up when you spray the leak.
