I have an 1986 2.1l Westfalia, with an ACW transmisson (code 20036)
All has been well, until after a long drive (5 hours at 100km/hr+) I had trouble getting from 3rd-4th gear. Movement between other gears is fine (unchanged) however shifting from 3rd to 4th feels as if there is a jam. If I shift 3rd-> neutral neutral -> 4th (double clutch) all is fine.
Downshifting from 4th -> 3rd is fine.
I have heard talk about a drive hub and 3rd and 4th issues... Am I a victim? |

One of the most common Vanagon related issues.
Daryl at AA Transaxle does excellent work.

Time for a rebuild. Mine was doing the same thing and I drove it like that for way too long. When the 3/4 slider goes, that's it, you're stuck.
Put a rebuild in mine this past spring. _________________ 1987 GL Sunroof
