I have had a problem with the crank on my Fiama F45 Awning. When cranking the awning in or out I have notice the pin that holds the crank assembly together will slip out of one side of the awning "U" joint, thereby putting undo stress on the other side of the "U". Note that this photo shows the pin pushed out so that the splines show. It was taken as I was pushing the pin out to make the repair. Normally the pin would only slip out far enough to come out of one side. You can see how the sides are bent due to the pin coming loose.

The Fix: I pushed the pin out and replace it with a stainless steel bolt the same size as the pin. Then I put a nylon locknut to keep it together.
