lol. you only posted this 45 minutes earlier. Come back a couple of days and you can gripe then.

Funny... all the years Ive owned my bus Ive never seen another 69 on the street. I found ONE at a wrecking yard one time and that was IT.

71s, 2s and 3s; 76s, a few odd ones here and there, but never a 69. Not ONE.

with 48 votes the distribution is pretty random. I would expect and increasing number of buses with decreasing age. I guess we have to wait a few days....

Looking at the numbers this morning I was shocked to see a tie between 1969 and 1971. I'm stuck in the middle, 1970. And here I thought this forum was dominated by type IV powered busses.....Ha!

I don't know what to do... I've owned the 74 a bit longer, use locally now and also the same with the 78, the 78 gets used for the many long distance and close camping trips....Do I vote 74 or 78?

I guess I will use this as my guide,,, not to pick favorites,,, cause the 74 gets used when I need to transport more people, too much on a camping trip, wood, dry wall, etc, but I do put more miles on the 78, would choose it more for trips to work, etc, etc, so I'm going to pick the 78 for this poll.

I'm going to guess that the 1971 will eventually win. In my own expeirience, people I know own an overwhelming number of '71 busses. It seems to be an excedingly popular year...

the count as of this post:
68 1% [ 1 ]
69 14% [ 9 ]
70 10% [ 7 ]
71 15% [ 10 ]
72 3% [ 2 ]
73 7% [ 5 ]
74 7% [ 5 ]
75 1% [ 1 ]
76 6% [ 4 ]
77 9% [ 6 ]
78 14% [ 9 ]
79 7% [ 5 ]
Total Votes : 64

78 seems to be up there with 71, along with 69.... this could be interesting.....

Wow, my 68 makes 2! I'm pretty sure we'll lose this one. I ususally meet people that TELL me they have a 68, but for what ever reason, they don't drive it (not running, needs restoring, etc.). How about the 71s though? I thought the later bays would rule this for sure.

Statistically, we have 3 peaks here, one, the absolute peak, is at 1971, the next one is between 73 and 74, and the third is right at 78. The bulk of the numbers seem to be at the early bays, where we have the largest single numbers, but there are plently of medium numbers at the later end, but it's more evenly distributed between them. So far as I'm concerned, this could indicate that people amongst early bays are more likely to gravitate toward one single year, while the later bay people don't care as much between the years 76-79 exactly what year they are, tho it does show a peak at 78, so the single largest number is going to be at the preffered year of early bay, seemingly 71, while the late bays are going to be more even...

Good point! Was 71 the first year of disc brakes, or was it 72? That could help explain it.

71 was the first year for front disk brakes.

i am really suprised that there are so many 71's out there. i had thought this was a year that was somewhat rare ( i use rare losely). i think i came up with this simply based on the limited availablity of parts, orginal and aftermmarket.
