I hope the pic is obvious enough. the PO removed the cooling flap rod/thermostat setup, so the cooling flap on the drivers side by the oil cooler is the only one still there.
is this the default position that you would want it to stick in? he's got it screwed into place so it cannot move at all the way it is. im guessing this is the position it would be in with the cooling flap rod in the 'closed' position, meaning the motor was already warm.
when I eventually pull the whole motor ill reinstall the flaps properly, but is it ok to leave this setup in this position for now? _________________

Is there a reason you don't just replace the parts and make it operational? _________________ American Standard Snorkeling Terrier

it's not a question of if, it's just a question of when. I have nearly the entire brake system torn apart right now and that's gotta to together first. throwing the CHT gauge on it was just a 'while I have some time' project earlier today when I ran out of brake parts to finish.
I just wanted to be sure this was the OK position of the flaps, for when they are essentially not hooked up, until I can properly pull the motor.
if im going to pull the motor though, I may as well do the clutch and some other bits that im not in a position to take care of properly right now. (parts themselves, time, and dry location)
thanks for the replies. I think my sender is hooked up well enough that it won't rotate or bend in position when I install the plugs, so im going to put it back together the way it was for now, after replacing some of the fuel hose and clamps. _________________
