Can anyone assist me in my search for rear drums for a 1970 bus ? My rear drums are worn beyond limits.
Is the any othe vw drum that will work with some machining ? I would really like to retain the wide 5 rims.

Ah, wasn't even paying attention if they were in stock or not.

Bus-boys.com will sell you some used ones. You could check your local NAPA or Autozone or whatever. Sometimes they can get things their website doesn't list if you ask.

You might try Mallahat Auto parts in Victoria BC.
I don't know what they are like now, but they were quite a large "boneyard" of VWs years ago the might be worth a try. Don't let there automated search throw you either, you are better off calling them
Good luck

I've never seen a Bow Wow store. Would have thought it was an Arff Arff pet store.

With the drums you might find other suppliers if you Google the part number.

I've been hunting these elusive 501-615-211-(E & G) drums for my '67 Split and my '69, respectively. (They're actually the same ones I'm pretty sure, the only diff' seems to be the 'E' or 'G' on the end of the part number). The CSP website says "short term available" for the 'E' part ('64 to '67) and "unknown delivery time" for the 'G' part ('68 to '70).

However, CSP also wants about 80EUR each. Ouch!

I can't believe they'd be this rare. Does no-one replace the original Split rear drums?

I guess we keep looking. Confused

Actually, the 'F' version are the rarest:

211 501 615 A - Bus Mar 55-Aug 63
211 501 615 D - Bus 62-63 w/Big Axle Redux Boxes & Brakes (M216)
211 501 615 E - Bus 64-67
211 501 615 F - Bus Early 68 (to 2x8 109 823) (RAREST of the Rare)
211 501 615 G - Bus Late 68-70 (fr 2x8 109 824)

List complements of Airhead Jim.

Have you tried bus-boys.com (nevermind... they don't have them either).
