Love that OG interior! When I bought mine the guy's wife told me later he couldn't watch me drive away. It was funny because when I jumped in to start the car, it fired right up. He said so many people came to test drive it but couldn't start it right away. He asked why I was able to do it and we started swapping stories. I used to watch my dad pump the pedal a few times before he would start it. Anyway I guess he was impressed with the silly little details and sold it to me for less than others had offered him for it. I can't wait to drive back up his drive way when she is fully restored! I'm 1/2 way ther so hopefully this summer! Great story and awesome find! |

Congratulations. Black/red is one of my all-time favorite combos. That car should detail to a high standard. If you lived close- I'd start your collection of window rubber with chrome inserts... you're gonna need those... stat! _________________

Brad Penn oil (uh-oh... lets not start another oil thread here...) 10-30w is what I use. It's made in the states from crude oil from Pennsylvania. Great stuff, it has the correct amount of zinc for the tappets so they stay healthy, etc.
I use NGK standard plugs, they are (from my knowledge and recommendations from other VW guru's) higher quality than Bosch. _________________ "All around you people will be tiptoeing through life, just to arrive at death safely. Super nice car. I'm sure if was on CL in CA he probably would have got overloaded with calls and emails, flakers and people offering him more than the asking price. Seems to be the CL trend around here lately. I'm sure you will enjoy your new bug |

Very nice .I hope you keep it for a long time.I found one
almost just like you did a one owner that cherished his bug.
I would take the note his dad left an put in a frame.that note is worth a
million words in a simple sentance.Period!
If you want to get rid of the bumpers let me know I may can use them.
Keep us posted. |
