Anyone have pics of original cabin outlet covers in a Westfalia camper? I'm interested in both the round and square versions for SO23, So34/35 and SO42 and SO44 versons.
I didn't see any in the gallery _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

My old '60 so23 had a metal grille and ductwork for the dealer installed BN4. I didn't take/keep pics of that detail, but I think I sent it to Robert Davis for a while to be replicated, so he might have pics and dims for it. |

Thanks barry. I'm looking for a grate or cover that would mount into or around that piece you posted. Like this-

Oh. Is there an Eberspacher pamphlet that shows the correct piece? I've been told by two old timers that there should never be a vane or cover over the outlet. Even storing stuff close enough to cause back pressure was ill advised. |

Years ago, I had something that looked original down to the paint which I believed was a cover. It was made with the same "grate" that is found on the 8478 models that protect the fan. I made one over the weekend from memory. I'll get a pic posted tonight.
Ambulances had a cover on their inlets but I haven't seen one on a westy that I can find. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

I am sure you're aware of this, Sean, but that little louvered vent bears a very very very strong resemblance to a standard round push in under-eave retrofit vent for residential construction.
Here they are for sale on Amazon
When I was installing my heater, I located another forum user whose bus was delivered with a BN4 and he too had an open round hole, no cover.
Just another data point for your consideration. |

Hey Chris,
I am aware- I put it there! It's a foundation vent. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

Heh. It looks good. It would look better if the factory had finished it off with something but truth be told, I don't notice mine anymore. |

I just got So42 interior for my 67 westy. There is a hole on my seat wall cupboard, is that a hack or for a gas heater?
In the first picture (it said OG in the gallery?), it seemed similar to mine. But defly not the white round ones as my hole is too big?? Can anyone confirm this?
As for the closet, I assume thats a hack for a speaker?
Thanks. |

The closet is a hack for a 6X9 speaker.
The gigantic hole in the bed base looks to be for a heater but is much too large and too far from the wall to be Eberspacher. I would wager it was for a Stewart Warner heater and was done at a dealership. It looks strange with that giant square grill thing on it. |
