An awesome price, but according to the page, that model only works with their Twin Peaks bumper.

GO Westy has one of the best prices on this great piece of recovery (and stuff moving) equipment.
http://www.gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=3908&category_id=388&
I bought one 2or3 yrs ago during thier president's day promotion saved %15 I think, it covered the shipping on this heavy unit plus a few $$.
I do also have a smaller 3/4ton griphoist that I use for moving all sorts of stuff around the yard and onto/off of trailers etc.. it never runs outta battery power, though I do run out of steam every now and again.. then it's a buddy's turn.
it easily stows under the back bench for when you need it, or hopefully don't.
there's a great thread out here also: Griphoist Vanagon Recovery
Regular price is $350 and that's pretty darned good for a Tirfor (Griphoist) of this size.
Manual Hand Winch (includes winch, handle and cable)

Dan, that makes me so nervous I can't even look at the pics! Exposed people and legs and high tension cable on old parts under heavy load...yes, I sound like a ninny, but holy smokes that seems like an awesome way to turn one dude into two. _________________ On a mission, the destination is just an excuse.

That's why you put a heavy blanket or two in your recovery kit. It goes over the cable during winching, and will absorb a great deal of energy if something should let go. That, and make damn sure noone's standing where they could get hit in the first place

That MV50 pump is quite the workhorse. When it first became known in the offroad community, people were all over the net trying to find them because they performed as well as 150-200 dollar units for under $50. They promptly sold out all over the place and then kinda disappeared for a bit and then reappeared with a different brand name.
I have two of them and one has been used heavily with great results. I've been in a group of offroaders filling our tires after a day offroad and beaten most of the group with my little MV50. And those are 275-70-16" tires, so a lot of air volume. Anyhow, just a plug.
I'm mounting one on the vanagon - there are a ton of places to fit this unit.

I left my spare MV50 at a gas station on the way out of pismo
I have been using one for several years and it is a very decent compressor for the money. Open up the unit and replace the crimp wire nut style connector for the leads going into the body and use a good butt connector or solder it as the factory connector isn't very strong.
I have seen them at pep boys for about $50 before. |

Found this when searching for an Engel. It could be a good deal for someone in SF looking for one. Still spendy, but better than retail, and who knows, might get it for less.
Happy start to summer!

http://www2.cip1.com/ is having a Father's Day sale. I think it might even apply to people who are not fathers.

If you live next to him (somewhere in Ontario, check his website for the address), he has many parts he's getting rid of apparently. _________________ '90 Little Blue Truck, 2WD auto, FAS GenV 2.0 NA (AVH) |
