|
|
I have a fully rebuilt 1835cc DP in my rail buggy. It only has 750 miles on it. The engine runs great upper rpm, however, it will stall out for about 2 seconds when Im at the bottom of a gear, and after that 2 seconds it runs fine.
When Idling if I hop out and give the engine about 3/10 throttle the engine will sit there and bog for about 4 seconds unless I give it more throttle.
Yesterday when driving in 3rd gear for about 5mins, when I put the buggy in neautral after slowing down, the buggy shut off. This happens alot if I dont have a chance to tap the gas pedal before the rpms drop.
The buggy has a smooth rpm at idle.
Im running an 009 distrubutor, and solex 34-PICT Carb.
Im thinking the carb is out of adjustement, but I dont want to make it any worse.
Any help is appreciated. _________________ My 4 Seater 1835cc Build page

Have you checked for dirt or anything clogging a jet? |

I didn't build the motor. A guy that owns a shop locally built it. He's been in business for over 40 years, so I assume he knows what he's doing.
Oh and its a 34-PICT-3 if that makes a difference.
What carb should I be running then?
I just ran alot of carb cleaner through the carb, it still stutters. _________________ My 4 Seater 1835cc Build page

Buggy disaster, have you figured out the problem yet?
it could be that you have a vacuum leak either on the manifold with the boots, or on the carb itself. that's happened to me before. mine was sucking air through the throttle shaft. I'd check for that.
and i'm not expert, but from what i've read and gathered, a 34 is small for an 1835. that's what you'd use for a 1600. a 40 is good for a 1600 if you downsize the jet, 1776 and 1835. anything bigger then that should be bumped up to a 44. _________________ "In case I don't see you, good afternoon , good evening, and goodnight."

Idk about the various stalls/hesitates you have. But mine dies when I roll up to stops and what not. I have an old 34 pict 3 like yours and mine has a bunch of play in the throttle shaft.
I don't worry about it too much, just give it a tap every now and again if it feels like it will fully stall. Fixing my manifold heat helped some probably just because it's running better.
If you grab that little arm that the throttle cable attaches to and give it a little wiggle you might have your problem. That and the small size thing. |
