Whole new cage? NOT
What is in there is all Cromolly, we are adding to it though. I'm building a whole new rear cage around the motor. Looking forward to getting that done real soon I hope. I'm adding bar along the bottom of the windshield and putting ^ bar from top to bottom. We are putting bar behind the seats for support and to hook the Harnesses to and @ least a couple rear seat area X brasses in. I'm also adding angle bars in the door area. |

You also don't want to be the guy who come July, doesn't have a car to drive and wishes like HELL he would drive and enjoy his car instead of making it "perfect". _________________ "In any racing engine, the nearer you are to it disintegrating, the better it's performance will be"

4.5* LOOKS fine I plant to put my 2.2 in level and run the shifter above the tunnel. Running my boys 2332 vw motor in the tunnel with the 091 was a pain, but working fine with a 7* mount. My ecotec baja just began with the front sheet metal gone and the 6 in over beam in place hope to run some more tubing this week. ED

Looks good Ed. Thanks for sharing. My shifter is on top of the tunnel also. |

Conversion looks good. Could you do me a favor and measure from the tranny and or end of the frame horns to the front of the motor? I am building my rear cage now. I have a VW at the moment but want to make sure an ecotec will fit later down the line. Thanks. |

Wouldn't this figure be different depending on what arms you use?? BUT I do see a lot of buggies where they do not try to get the axles in line when complete. We tried to get the axles at right angles to the tranny causing us to move the engine and trans back a little for the 3x3 arms. ED |

I'll measue later tonight and it will depend on arm length where you put it. You should be able to run 3X3's with trans in stock location. I Know several people who do it without issues. |

Thank you. I understand the tranny may have to move to accomodate longer arms. I am just looking for a ball park figure so I can see how much longer the ecotec is than the VW. Again, I appreciate it. |

Looks real good, I am just in the begining stages of a baja build my self, righ now I'm just accumulating materials and such. I'm from michigan myself and curios if your friend who does the reworking of wire harnesses will do them or anyone and when its done, will you have a check engine light for the dash and an obd2 connector for scanning
I wouildn't be too concerned about how the engine sets if it works the way it is, you can always change it next winter...give ya somethin to do when the snow is on the ground lol. Who supplys those hoods?? |
