|
|
Hi, Im building a baja with small nut rgbs. I have been searching for any info on disc brakes for these with no luck. I searched here in the bus forum hoping somebody knew something and couldn't find much. Anyway As an alternative i am starting this thread to maybe get some insight . I am wondering if a type 1 bug rear disc brake kit would work on a small nut rgb. I got a small nut setup in a trade and it had 4 lug beetle drums on them so that is telling me the hubs are interchangeable with a spacer. I looked at the disc brake kit for the beetle and the caliper mount bolts behind the bearing cap which seems to be the same as a type 1s bearing cap? So im thinking spacer for the hub and a spacer for the caliper mount and they may fit. Any thoughts? If it works it would be a cool brake possibility for you bus guys as well.
Thanks for any help |

can't imagine why you would need disk brakes on a RGB setup in a beetle? Bus Brakes would suffice in my book. On the front, sure, why not. _________________ regards

Wanted them for the simplicity and looks. They have some really nice hub disc combos that would look awesome behind the wide 5 lug rims. Would be a nice touch for any show vehicle. Like getting the gray area machined disc brakes or even the willwood kit behind some 5 lug rims would look really good on anything. Just kicking around ideas. |

friend of mine built a raised 68 with RGBs turned front beam, big tires, and then drove it from germany to the the pyramids, made for great pictures as well _________________ regards

Yeah, I may keep the drums. Im just throwing around ideas. I wont do irs, I like the rgb,s. I live in ohio. There are no deserts here where I will be driving 100 mph in the sand lol. we have trails in woods with mud and i like the idea of the extra clearance and the gear reduction which relieves stress of the axles, diff, and transmission. Well at least thats what my thought is anyway. |
