It's interesting in many of these old camping photos, that they try to cover up the car, as if it's informal to have your car showing.
|
In the book "Besser fahren mit dem Volkswagen" from Arthur Westrup it was adviced to cover the wheels (-> tires) as protection against sunlight.
This book was the bible for Volkswagen driver these days.

That's very interesting. Thanks for the information. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Hey! I know this area well, and in 1961, Lake Dillon Dam was started. Dam, Lake, see where I’m going with this. The entire town of Dillon was moved, and what you are seeing in this picture is now under several feet of water! Make that ice by Jan. Cool picture. The lake is filled from the Snake river, and Blue river, just below Breckenridge and Keystone ski areas. |

Is that a custom relocation of front turn signals, or just another stock variation exported to somewhere? _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? Because it's a European oval, they would have been added provisionally, because fender-mounted signals didn't appear until 1961. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.
