I thought you were selling it. Is there any accessible original paint under there?
I agree, and very unique and standout bus color. _________________ nothing |

It's for sale but no takers yet. I decided to work on it to get it running/driving to make it more attractive but if it doesn't sell then I'll enjoy it as a beater as I do more work to it. Of course, the more that I do to it, the more it will be.
There is some original paint under there but I'm going to cover up what's already covering up the original, the next owners can find the original paint that I've continued to preserve. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Here you go cdennisg, I found some original paint under the moss & blue paint.
I tried several different things but acetone worked best in this case.
The color varies depending on light, here it is with yellow legal paper to have an idea what it actually looks like.

Here's for all you OG paint picture whores!
I can't imagine covering that up, most of the damage I'm encountering is from scuffling the paint for the new to stick.

1977 Hard top.
After 12 years of living outdoors on jack stands, and posing as a storage shed, this old beauty has had several months of love poured in, and will shortly be barreling down the road again with this old fool behind the wheel.
Excellent restoration candidate, but I'm loving the patina, and it won't be me bringing any new paint to this palate.

Here’s our 79 we bought from a fellow samba member. We call it the tic tak. First one is during its resurrection. Then after clean up. And the last is how it looks now that we’re using it.

1970 Montana red and Cloud white. I buffed a section of the driver's door many years ago and it cleaned up well. I pushed it out of the garage a few weeks back and washed it up. Forgot to take after the wash photos _________________ 1970 Bus |

This thread is awesome. I really appreciate seeing original paint vws. I'm glad I've come across a few...
My 68 dc in neptune blue. I've been doing small sections with tr3 when I get time. It was very chalky!
My 71 Chianti red westy. I have done virtually nothing to this bus besides clean the dust off carefully. Still sitting in the corner of the garage waiting patiently.
Shiny rocker!
Still has original muffler paint

I was thinking "wow, the paint burned off of my new muffler in like 4000 miles", and then I remembered that this bus has like 2700 miles on it. _________________ -Ian
