My bug is a swing axle, it just looks funny. If you are asking about an adjustable camber unit for swing axle VWs then keep watching. This video is a 3 part series.

I'm coming to this late, but I'm not sure what this product offers that I can't get from this. mounted on a stock spring plate:

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=994579

It looks like, for substantially more money, an additional potential failure point is introduced with the two piece plate and you still gotta monkey with the torsion bar adjustment.

What am I missing here?

You are missing part 3 of the movie, my friend. Almost finished uploading it.

Did the shirt, tie, and lab coat schtik for many years. If you're going to be professional, you need to dress for it.

[DISCLAIMER]I'm not an engineer.[/DISCLAIMER]

But--did I miss the bit where the breech-loading torsion bar is secured so it won't walk out of the spring plate through the gaping hole in the cover plate? The inner splines might have a taper, the bushings may wear and let the spring plate work the outer splines, all sortsa stuff can go wrong when the "rocket scientist" installers and users get their hands on this.

I'm still favoring the $12 flop stops here.

My local ACE sells a good angle-finder for like 20$. They also sell two pound hammers
I set mine at 13 degrees

But that is too scientific? DOH

Ummm. Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't this like a 21 page infomercial? How about trying the classifieds? You know- That place where people go when they want to buy stuff? Very Happy

Good call. No taper. However, [DISCLAIMER]I'm am an engineer.[/DISCLAIMER] when "preloaded" properly (watch video to see how) the torsion locks in the bar.

Why would it back out? you ask. Good question, and thanx 4 asking. It could work its way out if there is no preload to hold it in. Get it? I'll explain. Torsion bar splines were not designed to have backlash. This means that torsion load is made to be in only one direction. For example on the driver's side it should always be clockwise and never counter to this. PRELOAD! Again, P R E L O A D. This makes a locking effect.

However if you're still scared then get a stock end cap and index it. Jeanie ass.

Thank you for the interests people and I am out for now until the next video about the adjustable hub. Then the adjustable camber unit. Then...

Anyway I know you hate infomercials so just contact me via email.

Thank you to my supporters, and special thanks to Kevin and Rick of CB Performance.

Charles.
