Wow, that's a beautiful van!
Those "mystery holes" look like 12V outlets to me.

You're right, they do kind of look like that in the photo. In person, they look like they are big enough where you could barely fit the tip of your pinky finger inside it. Too small to be 12V outlets, unless they are some crazy Euro outlets. I may have to consult the PO to determine what they are. _________________ No more van. Wildcat has a new home.

Ah, I guess I didn't pay attention to the size.
I'd stick a volt meter in there and see what it reads. I still bet on 12V A quick google search didn't return much for "small 12v outlet" or "european 12v outlet" though. _________________ 1989 Westy AT, 2.2 GoWesty.

Dude. Nice van. I love how unique the westy-interior is, compared to stock US.
Those bug-screen/windows are da-bomb! _________________ == My Rides ==

Ditto... on all counts!
I'm guessing those rear side vents are for the furnace... _________________ ~Kamz

Those are standard vents on all panel vans or half panel vans. They have the same function as the vents on the back of the rear side windows. Like so:

Do those vents help avoid stale air back there?
I forgot to comment on your windows screens, etc... way neat!!!!Very modernistic or would that be futuristic in a Vanagon.? _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...

Awesome van with some very cool features. Congratulations and happy trails. Oh yea, I have found it best to let the wife inflict the first dings and dents, then tell her she is to hard on it and can't drive it any longer _________________ Tom, Juanita, Iggy & Abbey the Dirty Desert Dogs

All vw bus panels have the upper rear louvers, back from the early busses to the vanagons. |

Three (round) European outlets behind the driver's seat that are setup to run when connected to shore power. I have no idea what the three little holes to the right are for...any ideas? |
Looks like aftermarket silver socket receptacles http://www.ratwell.com/technical/SilverSocket.html |

I think they probably go to this style power outlet:
http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/2995/591/
You can find them in lots of motorcycle places as BMW uses them on their bikes (and I have one on my Triumph). I even heard John Deere uses them on a tractor but I haven't confirmed that one. |

taigagreen - Thanks for the info! That's what I thought it might be, just curious since you don't really see them like that in the US much.
Syncronicity - That's a good plan, but my wife can't drive a manual transmission yet, so I'm the only driver right now! I tried to teach her on my MINI when I still had that but she was afraid of hurting it. Now, I'm afraid of her hurting the van.
syncrodoka - The longer I'm on here, the more convinced I am that you know everything about VWs. Seriously. I think you are right on about those sockets. _________________ No more van. Wildcat has a new home.

I finally got around to posting that time-lapse video I shot when I went to Northwest OHV Park a few weeks ago. Here it is for those who want to see it.
Link
It was my first time off-roading in Wildcat and my first time using this GoPro camera, which was pretty cool. I think next time I might shoot video of it though, not just a time lapse. I didn't add a soundtrack to this one, so you can just add your own music or hum along. _________________ No more van. Wildcat has a new home.
