So what year seat frames are interchangable for the late '60's walk-thru split windows? Specifically a 1966.

Anything from the Bay/Vanagon era fit?

63-67.

As far as I know mid-62 up to 63 will fit too but the seat backs are shorter.

How can I tell what year my passenger seat bottom is for? I don't have a seat back, just the bottom but it came with my swivel bus so it isn't original to the bus. I just can't tell what year it is. I may need better pics, sorry.

'66s are angled in the front where they "roll" up the fenderwell. Thus the side panel height from pedestal mat to the seating surface shortens by 2 inches on the fenderwell (shorter springs, less trampoline fun, etc.).

Can anyone post up clear pictures of the bent tube underneath frame, possibly with dimensions/specs or direct me where to find them for late split passenger walk through seat frame? I need one for my project and may have to fab up a suitable replacement.

Talk about an ideal subject for someone to market as a repo item, the passenger walk through seat frame, given the cost of rusty examples.

Novice question please bare with me;)

First time reupholstering 66 walkthru front seats. I have a few questions about my frames before I send them off to powder coat.

1st question: drivers seat bottom left front of picture. Is the slant normal? The front corner spring is compressed and tied down. Second picture shows this.

Second question:
Drivers side seat back, is the very top back rod on frame suppose to slant downward to the left. I think it's is from pictures I was searching in the gallery but want to confirm.

Seat bottom should not be compressed on one side, and the rod along the top back should not be sloped either. The rod is an easy fix. The seat bottom--maybe--depending on the reason why it was tied down in the first place.

Thank you for your time and information. Not trying to be combative, I just have not been able to find a picture of a driver's seat back that did not have the upper horizontal rod with a slight angle. Here's an example

Any chance anyone has a picture of a 66 driver side walkthru seat frame that has not been threw the ringer?

I redid my 67 w/t seats earlier this year and that rod was very straight and parallel to the front bar. When covered, it forms an even line with with front of the seat, tho its a bit lower. I think what you're seeing in that repro seat ad is just an angle, as it looks straight to me in another of the pics.

X2 on the bottom springs being even height across the back. Yours was tied down heavily for some reason.

If it's not to much to ask would it be possible to get a straight shot side (pic) of the top of the drivers seat back. I'm trying to determine if there is a curve to the horizontal support rod or if it's perfectly straight. From one end to the other.

I've worked mine back to looking level side to side but there is a curve not sure if this is correct.

Thank you for your time

Can anyone tell me when the passenger seat backs with the hooks, had open backs? Meaning no material covering the rear side of it.
