Do you guys think 180 bucks for that thing is ok? I need it to make a passenger seat for my swivel bus that has no bulkheads so I will have to make a contraption to hold it upright for a passenger. No one wants to ride on the cat bed I toss on the passenger side pedestal. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. $180 sounds pretty high just for a top? The tops are usually in good shape and not rusty.
I haven't really paid attention to walk-thru seat prices lately but I know they are high.
What are you going to do for a bottom?
It will probably be hard to find the bottom if you just have a top.
Probably easier to find a complete seat, although obviously more money. _________________ How to Post Photos

How can I tell what year my passenger seat bottom is for? I don't have a seat back, just the bottom but it came with my swivel bus so it isn't original to the bus. I just can't tell what year it is. I may need better pics, sorry.

Thanks, I do have the bottom and I had it all reupholstered by Matt Miller in the og grey vinyl. I don't know, not sure I need a passenger seat actually, not like I have any friends or anything. Swivel buses are for loners is what they say. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. In that case it is probably worth getting the top 1/2, money dependent of course. _________________ How to Post Photos

Can someone please clarify if the 58-61 walk through seat back is flush with the divider metal or above it?
Does anyone have the width measurement for 58-61 also?
Any other defining characteristics for 58-61 if you were just looking at them loose and not in a bus? |

Could someone please give me the dimensions and exact position of the small bracket of a WT passenger seat (shown in picture)
The other support bracket should be the same as on full seat buses - so I can check it or buy a repro.
Thanks |

First pic is just for looking at... second pic has measurements.
Tape was butted against seat pedestal & vertical part of bulkhead (not horizontal ribs).
Forward lower corner: 7-5/8” up from seat pedestal
Forward lower corner: 3-7/16” from bulkhead
Forward upper corner: 3-3/32” from bulkhead

Excellent!
Could you give me also the measure of the bracket itself, please?
I think the four measures, marked in the picture should be enough to reproduce it as good as necessary
Thank you very much!

Printed the picture with your measurements back in the days.
Now, after viewing many times, I wonder about the mount in the lower right corner of the picture.
Can someone show me a better picture of this mount?
In my bus, it is gone. Need to see the placement in relation to the small oval opening.
Thanks |

Really helpful thread thank you. Hoping it's the right place to add this question ....
I have a May '62 walkthrough with very tired front seats, (thank goodness I have the frames), that I'm looking to recover. Does anyone know where I can buy off the shelf seat covers? 1962 seems to be a funky year with a thinner drivers seat then pre-62, and shorter seat backs than post-62. I can't find anyone who sells 1962 specific covers.
Alternatively has anyone used later, (or earlier), covers and modified them to fit. I'm getting perilously close to buying later sized covers and getting the backs modified to fit my 1962 frames. I don't have the skills to do this but I'm assuming an upholsterer would.
Finally, if nothing works, I guess I'll have to get some made but I prefer the price of the off the shelf items
Same problem with the seat cushions of course.
Thanks for any help, tips, or experience you can share.

Damn!! Wasn’t searching hard enough That’s a great link thank you. I’ll hit them up and see what they can do.
Good that they come recommended by you too. I hear you on a lot of off the shelf covers
Thanks again and all the best dude.

Matt Miller is no longer affiliated with DeutschPolster. I have some Aero/Steel covers that were done by him when he was involved, that are excellent. _________________ "OG = Original German" -- TheSamba.com dictionary |

Ah, right. So is Matt Miller working on his own or employed somewhere else do you know? If he’s the man who makes them, then he’s the man I need ......
Thanks a lot |

I haven't heard much about his current projects in some time.
He has an email address listed here, hopefully he's still doing VW interior, he's the man:
