Why does anyone want "Trainspotter" badges? _________________ I have never owned a VW I didn't like, but there have been a few Fords and Chevy's.

Nice find! I recently picked up the Transporter badge off German eBay, but haven't been able to find the Puch badge. I think my wife think's I'm crazy for hunting down the proper emblems for the van, but it's the little details that make it come together! _________________ No more van. Wildcat has a new home.

Any chance of there being more TRANSPORTER badges where ever you got yours? I am looking for the shorter DoKa TRANSPORTER badge; any help in locating venders would be appreciated.

I got them from a friend of mine. I will see if I can find a few more |

Puch badge was used on specials such as 16" and Tristar Syncros. Civilian vehicles got chrome. Military vehicles got black which were usually painted body color. Australian Syncros got them too. I have a couple of replicas from a project 10 years ago. Will post on eBay soon along with some large SDP badges as used on Pinzgauers. It's the same logo you see posted on Syncro.org. _________________ BenT |

I believe that badge came on the early G-wagens when SDP was still producing them.
This is the badge I have from the Pinzies. The two circular portions of the badge are about 3" in diameter. This is only for the SDP badge and not the Pinz script. I sold one to cvbill. He handpainted it the SDP colors.

He sells Puch centercaps for steel wheels too which resembles the Syncro 16 caps. Too bad they are for 5X130mm bolt pattern. _________________ BenT |

So did only the 16" and Tristars have the Puch badge on the left side behind the driver's door, or did the more common syncros have them too?
How can you tell from the exterior if its a 16" if it doesn't have the black fenders (I assume that all Tristars had 4 doors...?) _________________ 1990 Syncro 16" DoppleKabine 2.1 DJ 112i

The fenders are the easiest way to spot a 16". If the black fender flares are removed, you will see the holes for the mounting of the flares, and the front and rear edges have been grind to make room for bigger tires.
The second easiest way is to look at the upper rear shock mount or rear trailing arms, the rear shock is mounted in a lower position in 16" models and it sits low instead of in the middle of the rear trailing arm.
Also normal syncros had the puch badge behind the front left wheel. I thought all of them had the badge, usually every syncro has one no matter what the spec. |
