Why would you mount a tachometer on your wife? Wink

CIP sell the panels for the dash, they are metal.

I wanted the tach somewhere I could see it without having to look at my knees all the time. The wife had one mounted like that before and I hated it.

Where did you get the gauge panels on the dash? Are they metal or plastic?

Good looking tach mount, BTW. I hadn't thought of mounting it up there! Laughing

In my 66 ghia convertible, I sent the factory clock to North Hollywood Speedometer to be converted into a 6,000 rpm tachometer, a replica of the hard-to-find accessory ghia tach except made for 12V instead of 6V.

it works well because it's always in your peripheral, and you can't see it from outside.

Posting photos in my response has never worked for me, even following the Samba instructions to the letter. Here are two possibilities from my own Beetles:

The tach is from a Porsche 914, which has the same diameter as the Beetle speedo. This method requires cutting out the factory speedo opening, relocating it to the left, and welding in a new speedo pod to the right from another car for the 914 tach.

Another 914 tach, this time in a RadioShack "project box" under the dash. Disadvantage is that it's out of your direct line of sight.

I have MS, but I don't drive around like THAT all the time! Laughing

No sir only gauge I have is the speedo, and that's currently got a stripped cable spline so it's disconnected.
