that will plug in to the silver socket, and it looks like it adapts to "usa" style plug~ins. _________________ thebucket: I invested in hoodride, now DBD won't return my call?

Does anyone have a silver socket they would like to sell me? I broke the male tab off mine while farting around with a radio-glove box installation _________________

Randy did you ever purchase this? I was looking at info on Rickard's silver socket page this morning and then saw this thread resurface. |

Yes I did buy and it and it works really well. The BMW bike guys use it to do all sorts of things.
I want to say it was about $20. |

I have a '79 Westy and just bought the same powerlet adapter as Randy did and hooked it up to the silver socket to test it out and got nothing. Per Ratwell and other posts here I checked that my hazards were working since the socket hooks to the same fuse as the hazards. They worked no problem so I go to make sure the socket is connected and it's figures that there is no wire even hooked up to the silver socket.
Full disclosure I am not at all electrically adept in vehicle wiring and I am pretty sure there are some electrical shenanigans going on that I've inherited from the previous owner. That said what do I need to do to get my socket hooked up again?
Per Ratwell the socket uses 16AWG wire and connects to terminal 30 on the hazard switch. Am I understanding this correctly, meaning there is a spade directly on the back of the hazard switch and I simply connect one end of the wire to the socket and connect the other end to the hazard switch?
Thanks for the help! _________________ 1979 Deluxe Westy |
