Hi
I bought this kit: http://www.vwparts.net/JDB300VWLP.html from Vee Dub Parts.
Just after I bought it, I realize that is intent for Off-Road use.
I'm planing to use this in one Beetle with +- 100 HP just for street.
My doubt is if this kit can handle with the weigth of the car or is to weak for this job.
If you have one of this, could post your impressions about this kit
Thanks

Link didn't work and couldn't find part # with search.
What is it??
In my limited experience the off road stuff is stronger in most cases.
Depends on what it is.
Found it. You should be good.
I think they are labeled off road if they aren't DOT approved.
Shouldn't be a problem where you are. _________________ We have Desert in Oregon too

Hi Ozzaholic the link is working now.
The question is if they will have the "stopping power" to deal with a full bodied car |

Compared to a stock ghia disk setup, it should outperform it. |

Those should definitely stop you.
Much better than a stock set up.
Good Luck, and Welcome to The Samba.

Don't get me started on Jamar disk brakes... definitely NOT the finest on the market as that ad claims. My ordeal with Jamar products began at the bottom of this page, and continued in the thread from there. I now have CNC brakes on all four corners, and couldn't be happier with the product, and their customer service. Neither was the case with Jamar.

No problem... I hate finding out after the fact when some one else had to deal with the same issues before me. You know, like when some says "oh, you shouldn't have done THAT!" after it's already said and done. _________________ "It's not complicated, it's just expensive!"

With the information from Skidmark I came to conclusion of all brakes kit below U$ 800,00 are crap
I chose Jamar after I saw in the forum the complains about CB and EMPI kits (both cost +- U$ 500,00).
My problem is this Kit what I bought will cost to me with shipping and tax +- U$ 1000,00
I paid US 4.500,00 in my car so anything beyond U$ 1000 in the brake kit will be very prohibitive .
I think the quality of Jamar (or maybe the marketing) is better in his class of price.
I hope the experience of Skidmark is a isolated case or in other way i spend my hard earned money in a F***ing crap |

I have a set of these on my beetle, they have a very annoying squeak - I cant seem to get rid of it. Is there an adjustment to back off the pads? I think they are a little too tight to the disc.
I am thinking of trying a softer pad.
Has anyone had similar issues? |
