i have an '87.5 hardtop wolfsburg. i have one rear facing seat; the other i took out to make room for some cabinetry. so, i currently have the seat i'm not using in storage of which i'm cleaning out. i tried to search on here and the interweb to see if these things are hard to come by and given i couldn't find many for sale, i'm guessing yes. what do you guys think? should i hang on to it or sell it? who knows, i may need it someday, but i'm trying not to fall into the trap of saving everything for . . . ? and yet, if these things are hard to find, i'll just keep it. it seems like a no biggie except i'm moving across the country and have some space limitations.

ta!

People often call them jump seats here- http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/search.php?...ton=Search
The passenger's side one is desirable to those that have westies and want to add a seat. The driver's side is only desirable to those trying to convert to the carat/weekender style interior

The seats are actually interchangeable its the hardware on the pedestal that is side specific.

I thought that the base lever was on different sides but you very well could be right. I sold my passenger side years ago to a member so I don't remember it all that well.

I looked for quite some time for a Jump seat for my Westy. They are few and far between
especially for the passenger side bracket! When I found mine, the were listed on Craigs list
and the seller ( a samba member ) was located about 40 minutes from me. I shot out an
email to them and asked if I could but both of the JS they had listed. I know that somewhere
sometime that other seat will be needed by somebody. I didn't buy it as a money making scheme,
more like I wanted to make sure that I got the better of the two for my Westy. I even bought
both of the front seats and converted the bottom to one of my front Westy seats. It's so
much more comfortable driving with a larger seat bottom.
