Was that done at the dealer or factory for CA delivery? Would that be original for a original '67 CA dual snout air cleaner? Looks like they used the og air cleaner on the later '68 swap H motor I have. l |
No, not factory installed.
These were installed on older cars in the late 70's early 80's when the State of California required a retrofit NOX reduction device (essentially an EGR system) in order to get your vehicle registration or transfer the title upon sale.
By the late 80s new Ca smog laws came into effect and pre-75 cars were given an exemption from bi-annual inspections. Most people ripped the device off and trashed them, but the hole that was drilled into the top of the air cleaner is near irreversible. _________________ -Bruce

Who out there is working on their 67 this week?
I replaced, axel boots, axel seals, trans fluid, oil change, new fuel lines, new fuel filter, adjusted steeeing box, carbs cleaned. She is running better than ever. Super pumped after testing today. Thought I'd share.
I don't pay others to pay with my car. I do all my own work, just FYI. |

I am putting in a new pan head on my 67 does that count?
I have the old cut out the new one positioned in and measurements checked, double checked, checked again, then rechecked and its tacked in.
I will check everything again to make sure nothing moved and weld it in this weekend. _________________ Looking for anything from Hal Casey Motors out of Hamburg New York, from license plate surrounds to matchbooks.

In the very first post of this thread, you send a PM to that user there to have him add it. _________________ How to Post Photos

Our 67. It's a Cali car, one family, two driver car (grandad and grandson). Original paint except front passenger fender. Never welded, not a bit of rust anywhere, looks like it's been garaged since new, just scratches and dings from 50 years of use. Now living in the UK.
Edit- I'm struggling with the photobucket link! |

Yeah, no photo. Start using the gallery here. Unless you pay $300, you can't use photobucket. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

Nice! Shasta? What, no old joints found in there? I would have expected at least a few old roaches. Haha. What did you have to give for such a find? |

Shingletown actually. And super conservative family, so no old roaches, just one big-ass black window spider.
This one cost me... $25.00. That is not a typo. They basically gave it to me. |

I wish I had the luck of other people. I could never find a bug that cheap. I found a '75 super that was junky and he wanted $2500... _________________ '67 Beetle L41

Greetings fellow Vw fiends, I've tried sending a message to the guys in the op, but no response for a while. I posted in another sticky up here about the 67 I picked up. Just wanted to know what else I need to do to add this little guy. I've added some of the pictures to this reply. Wasn't $25 dollars, but still a steal. I'm now the second owner.
Was about to get sent to a crusher, so of course I had to save it. _________________ It's not the fall that hurts, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.
