Fun car. I believe this is the original paint. Did VW use grease pencils at the factory near the fuse box?

Yup, they did. My 67 still has those marks as well and the trunk has never been repainted. If they're still there then the trunk is the original color most likely.

My '67 just got it and buffed out the oxidized paint. Was original poppy red but got this tomato red paint on it now.

Adding my sunroof 67 to the registry- 117537520.
Built between Jan-Feb of 67. The owners manual states it was sold from Gateway Motors in Portland, OR. on 7/7/67 and still has the original SP motor.

I haven't forgot about you all. I was deployed to Bahrain, and during the move lost the copy of the excel sheet for the registry. I need the current PDF converted back to excel so I can update again. Again I apologize, but I haven't forgotten my 67 kin.

Maybe not a question for here, but I came across someone doing nice reproductions of accessories and they are doing a door trim edging in stainless that apparently was original back in the day. That reminded me that my car (a '67 of course) has door edging trim on it too. I just figured it was homemade. Do you think it might have been an actual VW accessory? Thanks.

Thanks. You can see mine has the handguards too and they look like they are made out of a thicker material, unlike the thin reproductions. I'm putting OG pop outs I have, in it soon. I've never been a fan of the rain guards though so I don't think I'll search for those.

On a recent trip to visit friends in TX, I came across this fairly solid but incomplete '67 *117 287 885* in a yard.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

This poor little car had been in a flood at some recent time. The floor was covered in about 6" of flood debris. Still, despite all the surface rust and the fact it'd been sunk, the one fubar'd RR fender and the missing other items, this was an apparently low milage car rust free car. I was able to pick up both complete solid rust free doors, a great tank and two solid early complete seat frames and a few other items. The odometer read 20,xxx, and I suspect this could have been an original 120,xxx. I would have taken the whole car, but no time nor space at home. Maybe I'll go back.

Note there is a pic of a '68 in that album that looks really similar to the '67.

PM already sent, but here's the info for mine:
117515558, Zenith Blue and rust, sedan
Should be January of '67, by my math. Purchased new in SoCal.

If anyone around the Baltimore/DC area wants to help me get her running and stopping, I'd gladly take the help! See my restoration thread for more info...

Hi all,
I'm in Finland. I've been quite surprised at the number of '67s I come across here. To the extent that I wonder if VW offloaded them on the market here in '68. British Motorcycle manufacturers certainly offloaded some oddities here.
Here's listing for '67 Beetles in the national ads if you're interested:
