No updates thanks for keeping this thing alive
Also I have the registry on google sheets now, I see I have two active members that can update more than I can. Shoot me either a PM or an E-Mail to [email protected] and we can work out how to submit it to get updated on here. I tried for the last couple months but the certs for our servers have been an issue for me logging into my google account. Again thanks for all the patients with my tardiness on updating due to my schedule. _________________ 61 Type 1 Patina

I assume you mean the rear sloped 'towel bars' (also known as overriders) not being present on this car.. it's my understanding that those were not installed until early 1967 produced cars...a 'midyear' change, same with the rubber radio knobs, window cranks and side mounted seat release. year model 1967.5
This car was produced in fall of '66 for the 67 year and still had the more horizontal overriders, 66 window cranks and low seat release (down by the backrest hinge) like on 66 |

I haven't heard back from Compdrag when I reached out to help him with his registry so I've added it to the one that Acab77 began. I'm going to continue adding to this one so it doesn't get behind and doesn't get lost (I don't plan on going anywhere). |

I'm sure Rick will chime in but according to the registry he's had it since 1978 and it's VERY original. _________________ PM ME TO ADD YOUR '67 TO THE '67 BUG REGISTRY!!!!

I think the purpose of most car registries is to document and help track special/specific cars. In this case, the 67 registry gives a social, technical, and historical environment for 67 specific cars. It also gives a good metric as to how many 67s might be out there, and their shape and type.
As an aside, a registry in general is very good for helping identify owners of cars which may have been stolen, or previous owners, if you bought yours and are looking for some history.
I guess it's pretty multifaceted, and can be used in many ways. But it *can't* be used if you don't participate! Tell us about your car! _________________ -Harry

Are those handle grab guards original accessories? Mine has those and door edge guards in stainless. They are apparently original.

They would’ve been Dealer Installed meaning the original owner could’ve paid extra for them when they bought the car. I believe it was an additional $6.95 per set. _________________ PM ME TO ADD YOUR '67 TO THE '67 BUG REGISTRY!!!!

Hi All,
Long time lurker, rare to post. This is my second air-cooled (personally) though my family has had many over the years. My wife and I were married and drove away in our '69 tin-top westy, but sold it a few years later to fund a cross country move.
Here we are, back in Vermont, living the dream, and raising our 2 young children. I just picked up a zenith blue '67, and am excited to get started returning it to glory. It has some pretty good bones, but also has some needs. I'll likely start a thread, but am looking forward to all of the sage advice, shared knowledge, and even some of the BS that the Samba has assembled over the years.
I don't even know where to begin to get some of the pertinent info (serial #'s, for example) but as I get some space cleared out in the workshop, and start the teardown, I am sure it will all be revealed.
For now, here's some pics, and a heartfelt hello!

Thanks for the submission Graz. By the Vin number though your car is a '68.
The first three numbers "118" signify that it's a Type 1, Sedan, and '68. For example my convertible beetle starts with "157" because it's a Type 1, 5 for convertible, 7 for '67
We'd still love to see a pic though. _________________ PM ME TO ADD YOUR '67 TO THE '67 BUG REGISTRY!!!!
