Well, we finally went camping in the westy! Good time, a lot of fun and comfy. This is in the gila wilderness, near lake Roberts. I was able to make comparisons between toyota mini motorhome and westfalia. Each has a place in our life and driveway.

Eagle Creek campground. Nice simple campground outside the north entrance to Yellowstone. $7 a night and a morning view of Mammoth Hot Springs.
This was on the way down to Yellowstone. Free, Lakeside campground on Lake Alva, Montana.
Note the Wasserstopper from GW. Tight at night, limp in the morning from mositure. We really like the Wasserstopper and used it every night even if it wasn't threatening to rain. Helps keep the van warmer and cuts down on drafts, but they used a cheap fabric. Tight when dry. loose when damp. You can set the thing up nice and tight, but in the middle of the night it will get loose and start flapping in a breeze or the hooks start clanging on the rain gutters.
Would love to see someone remake these with improved fabric and a better strap system. Note our front straps now go the bumper instead of through the front cab. _________________ Currently:

I also strap mine to the front bumper . You do know that the the side hooks are adjustable....there's velcro on the inside. But, you are right. It would be nice if they would remain tight and maybe if the material was a bit heavier.... |

So, it's not spectacular. The campground is ok.
What's cool is, I didn't take the picture nor did I edit it and add it to the photo library. My 15 yr old daughter took the picture and my 10 yr old did the editing. hehe...the brainwashing is working.

One of our favorite shots at Lake Prado. Beautiful campground but wow it had a lot of ants!
Another shot from Lake Elsinore.
