Hey Derluft, both my 58, and my 61 have the style like what is pictured above. Both ones I know are original to the cars.

I've also got this one in my 56.

Apologies to the poster, but I made a local copy of these and can't find them on the gallery to give credit to who posted them. Embarassed

Can anyone out there with an original 1956-57 Oval Beetle confirm if a 1956-59 hood stay/prop uses one or two 14mm hex head "shouldered" M 8 bolts to attach the top part to the front hood and the bottom part to the body? I just posted a WTB ad for one of these bolts in the classifieds. I'm pretty sure that two of these shouldered bolts are needed?

Thanks for any conformation, and/or help finding one of these little buggers...

Thanks "finster",

I have the same parts book and that's why I suspected that two of those shouldered bolts were needed on a late Oval Beetle. I only have one here, and just needed one more for my front hood. I've also got a unmolested June of '55 Sunroof here, and I suppose I could prop the hood open with a long stick to support it and then remove it's lower and upper prop rod bolts to discover whether I needed one or two of those bolts, but the parts book made me feel pretty sure that two are used for the prop rod/stay. Thanks again for your post.
