I was driving and I thought I had dropped the transmission but luckily it was the spare tire clam shell as the bolt and washer that held it together had came off.

Can anyone please tell me the size spec for the bolt as I would need to go get one at home depot on my way home? Thanks a million for your help!

Tim

Metric-same head as the wheel lug bolts so the wrench will fit...other than that "bump" Very Happy

The lug nut bolt is 19mm so does that mean if I have a bolt with a 19mm head then it will fit?

I had asked my mechanic to check my sparetire I guess he did not tighten it back up. I am not too sure what is wrong with him lately as a lot of the stuffs he had touched had needed to be retighten...

It is a M12x1.5 pitch.
35mm long with a 6mm thick washer X 27mm around.

Is yours missing the safety catch? Apart from disappearing bolts, that catch makes it much easier to undo & lower the clamshell.

The safety catch is still there and it did it's job with whatever's left before the shell broke free. 12M 1.5 40 mm is what I ended up with...thanks for all ur help! Tim
