I placed an order for an adapter kit over a month ago and they still haven't done anything. Each of the past couple weeks I've called to get an idea of when they'll ship, and it's always "next Monday".
They also have a really bad attitude when I call. Today I asked the person what was taking so long, and she said "it's only been a little over a month..."
I thought they were supposed to be very reputable. Are they always like this? |

Reputable isn't the same as fast
I believe they do a production run on certain items. When they run out of stock then they do another run. Winter is a good time for conversions because you do have the luxury of waiting _________________ "Always waiting for tomorrow ruined everything"

AFAIK KEP makes their conversion kits to order. They don't stock them. I have used both KEP and Outfront kits, and they're both fine, but I've always liked the quality of the KEP product the best.
But yeah if they're taking too long you certainly can't go wrong with tje Outfront product.

I'm actually swapping in a diesel. I probably should have just tracked everything down in Europe and had it shipped. It would have been faster. |

Was there a discussion about time frame up front?
I agree a month is a long time, but I suppose it depends on what they have to do. I would think that either:
1. They should have told you up front something would take awhile
or
2. Explain why now
If they're not willing to do that, maybe you want to consider sourcing from elsewhere?
I've had similar problems with mechanics before; in some cases it seemed legit ~ they were having trouble getting parts, or something else odd. In other cases though, it seemed like they were just jerking me around for no clear reason.
I'd probably be on the phone and developing a bit of an attitude myself.
Unless:
They told you upfront, in which case the "only a month..." comment might make sense. Though if that were the case, this thread probably wouldn't exist, would it?
Give 'em a call ~ ask for a detailed explanation and time line. It's your money...

They were much quicker than that for my "Rabbit" adaptor plate kit. But then maybe they had NOS easily on hand?

5 to 8 weeks and it was more like 8--the exhaust was a couple more with an undersized muffler that whistled---oh hobart!
I almost drove up there and left it on their doorstep, but I didnt feel like going 4000 rpm that long. My little 2.2 just feels like what a waterboxer should be without the syndrome or torque.
I ended up using the suby stock airbox too, so there's some more dough you could save.--its for sale by the way.... |

Just placed an order with Kennedy. I spoke directly to Hobart Kennedy over the phone. Was quoted $460 plus freight for the kit I ordered. I asked to be called when the kit shipped with UPS tracking info. I will update this thread when I receive the kit. |
