Your sarcasm is very refreshing!

No, I'm asking why my bus, a 1977, is apparently equipped as a 78 from the factory. If a GE engine is coded for 78/79 then why would one be factory (m code above) in my 77 bus.

I'm familiar with the ease of parts swaps in these cars.

Did it occur to you to read the decoded plate Rolling Eyes

Busdaddy, that's a good explanation. I didn't know when the model year "changes" so mine is apparently a very late 77. Engine swap or not. Thanks!

sorry about that

but now that i did read it
it says chassis number 2382004511

which makes it a 78 modal year
not a 77 modal year

wait,wait..........
i read again

it even says modal year 1978

Rolling Eyes

so how is it that the m-code says its a 77

when the chassis number clearly makes it a 78
the chassis number is the first line on the m-plate by the way

It's quite alright... Lol
I half assumed it.

I have no clue though, thus my shared confusion.

The VIN is correct, and I've checked the plate.
All come back as a 78. But the bus is titled as a 77. I wonder if the DMV titled it as a 77 based on its production date, and not model year or of someone in the bus' past mistakingly registered it as a 77 and that just carried on to me?

Anyone have the part number(s) for the flexiable cardboard tubes that are between the heater box dump and the metal exhaust tubes?

I replaced mine this summer as had one cardboard tube missing, and another deteriorated badly. The right side heater blower hose in engine compartment fits fine for connecting to the dump pipes from the flaps. One hose can be cut to get two sections then use hose clamps. Worked fine for me. Never could find the actual replacement ones as its an odd size. http://www.busdepot.com/211261236

We had a snowstorm here today, haven't shoveled the sidewalks to the garage yet. Tomorrow after I do, let me double check the hose. I think it may actually be the left heater hose I used instead.
