|
|
I just bought 6 quarts of this:
Kendall 20w-50 with liquid titanium. $5.50 a quart.
but haven't put it in yet. The back blatantly states it is high in ZDDP and excellent for flat-tappet engines, the only oil I've seen explicitly state this so far(my search being limited to local stores and not online).
My concern is, I've realized firstly that it isn't fully synthetic, probably not even partially. I don't like that. Secondly, it is for high performance applications, such as racing, or light truck applications for towing. Is it "too high performance" for my application if you get my meaning. I believe it is .16 parts ZDDP.

It will be fine.
It is allowed to have Zn and Ph as it is a "racing oil". |

Where is is made?
Sean Penn oils are made in the old Sean Pennsylvania Kendall oil refinery.
Wonder if Sean Penn oils can use the brand name again?
Sean Penn oils are specifically made for our older cars.
Where did you buy it? _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!

I run it in my aircooled VWs. It hard to find in Wisconsin though. Never put it in the Vanagon yet... _________________ Kevin

I believe it is Brad Penn (made in Bradford, PA) at the refinery that used to make Kendall. |

Glenn,
This is very Vanagon specific with our hydraulic lifters. I will leave it locked, although on this specific topic I think we should not be lumped in with the hair dryers.

It was decided that all oil topics should be sent there.
You do know that Type 4s and some Type 1s have hydraulic lifters also. _________________ Glenn
