Ok. So I went to visit my folks recently and my dad says "Hey, I know where there are a couple of old Volkswagens sitting in a field." Shocked Shocked
So we go take a look. The guy has a Bug, 2 split window Buses and an Early Bay that is a complete loss. The early Buses are probably two of the driest Buses I've ever seen. There is no rot anywhere that I could see. The guy's wife lets us check them out and I take some shots mainly for the "Rotting/Returning to Earth" thread and then I ask her if he'd be interested in selling anything and she said that she doubted it. I left her my card and off we went. It's been almost three weeks now and I hadn't heard anything. I just figured he wasn't interested.
Yesterday, my phone rings. He understands that he's getting older and wont have time to do anything with these like he has planned for all of these years and he would be interested in getting rid of everything. He told me that he was going to poke around and do some research to determine what he thought he might ask for them and then he'd get back to me.
So this one in particular was originally a Sea Blue/White '66 13-window Deluxe. His wife was driving it 20+ years ago when she was wacked by somebody that ran a stop sign. It has paperwork. He said it has extra parts and that he took the jailbars out and stashed them because he was afraid somebody was going to steal them. My questions are as follows:

1) Is it fixable?
2) Is it worth fixing?
3) (and I know everybody loves this one...) What's this one worth?

I realize I'm going to get several different opinions but I'm looking for things that are maybe pointed out that I hadn't thought about. You guys are the experts. Let me know what ya think!

If it was an early bus it might be worth that kind of work but it is a 66 so it may be better parted out IMO.

1: Yes, it's fixable

2: It's worth fixing IF you can do it yourself and you are not planning on reselling it. Paying a pro would get expensive. You'd have to decide if it is a "keeper" for you.

: In the Sac area, it's probably worth $800 as is with paperwork? Depends on the rust.

1. Yes it's fixable

2. Why no more pics of the camper?

3. If you really want one of them, you should not have posted pics here before you got them, and you should get rid of this thread.

There are no pics of the Camper because right now I'm trying to sort out what I want to do with this one, if anything at all. I'm not worried about posting these pics. Nobody knows where they're at.

I was thinking somewhere in the $800 range also. This would not be a flipper. This would be something I would want to keep.

A lot of work but yes is the short answer.

How bad do you want a deluxe of that vintage? I've fixed up things that were for me only because I wanted it and it was laughable how much energy I put into it. You will never get your money back if that is what you're thinking unless you are going to have your grandchildren sell it.

What kind of parts are in the stash. You will be able to part it out but that will require a lot of labor on your part. No engine doesn't help. If that rear bumper is straight then I see $300 making the whole bus a good deal.

I'm curious about the other split bus pictures, also.

Would you, could you fix this bus?
Not if you were in a rush,
You could not fix it in a box,
You could not fix it with a fox,
You may not like green eggs and ham,
But you can fix it, yes you can! Wink

Sorry, attack of the Dr.Seuss's.
Yeah, it's a fixer.
It'll need a little "gentle persuading" along the bent in side but ClassicFab make anything you need.
But grab the Camper too.

You do realize the GPS coordinates get embedded in the EXIF data, right
