Just got to the CamPbodian Compound. We trailered Vince's 1953 hatch Kombi a straight 42hrs from Florida to Escondido. Had five hours of delays coming across the US. |
Had a flat 80 miles west of Yuma yesterday:
Fixed it faster that a NASCAR pit crew and 30 minutes later the spare blew out as well. Lost a total of 3 hours on the trailer tires.
Got to the CamPbodian Compound last night and rolled the bus off the trailer, up the drive way and the bus was dug into to see if the shifting issues could be diagnosed and fixed.

Hit Cunado's favorite VW parts shop and got a adjustable shift coupler and then proceeded with surgery.
we think this was the problem:
Vince is leaving now to gas up and shakedown any adjustments. Meeting up with a Barnie Carabus up the I5 around lunch time to Nicks. _________________ Call your Cunado's:

Added a touch of style for the active vintage bus lifestyle Cunado's:
Rolling up to LA now on the 5. Meeting up in Oceanside for a Barndoor Carabus to commence.
Hope everyone is having as much fun as we are! _________________ Call your Cunado's:

JODER!!!!! 58 Barndoors!!!!!!
Props to all you guys who brought out your rides to this gathering. When the smoke cleared, 58 Barndoors stood proud. Biggest OCTO turn out yet.
Results:
Oldest Bus: 1950 Kombi, owner - Joe Mond
Longest distance: MaHk Rafferty , 1953 Standard
Most Barndoors present by an owner: Todd Olmstead . 1955 Deluxe, 1955 Single Cab & 1954 Panel.
And Eddy "Pitbull" Aguire guessed how many Barndoors would show up.
More info & pictures to come. Feel free chiming in. |

Niels, That's the shot, right there.
Can't wait to see that angle from your big camera.
Barndoors dissappearing in the distance.
Amazing show, I'm proud to have been a part of it.
Thank You to Johnnie, Charlie, and the OCTO crew for organizing this. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS
