A software upgrade would be nice. I'm not b!tchin' or anything, but there are some really nice platforms out there.
vBulletin is really cool.
Just sayin' that all. _________________ Don't tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don't tell them where they know the fish.

I've cruised a bunch of forums over the years and I prefer the plain forums myself.
One aspect of the newer forums I don't like is rep/thanks, once a forum introduces "rep" or "thanks" to much importance is placed on someones "rep" or the number of "thanks" someone has received instead of people focusing on what has been posted, IMO of course.
I know rep/thanks are supposed to show who is helpful and who isn't, but in reality it becomes an incubator for group think as people only rep/thank posts that they agree with, and often times its political posts in a non political forum that get the most "thanks" so someone ends up having been "thanked" hundreds of times without having posted anything helpful.
I actually prefer it when post counts are not displayed as they don't represent much of anything important, there are some people with minimal posts that know a lot and there are some people that don't know a whole lot that have a huge stack of posts... _________________

I also vote no change. I've looked at other sites and they all seem chintzy somehow. Plus it would be expensive. Photo upload here is pretty easy, write a flag, paste in the link, close the flag. If it is a Samba photo then the gallery will even make the code for you.

While I can disable the feature for myself that doesn't do anything to stop the propagation of group think that the "rep" system wreaks upon forums as a whole.
There is the old saying that I think holds a lot of water here, "What is popular is not always right, and what is right is not always popular."
With this in mind, posts that may be right, but not popular get "negative rep" and posts that are not correct, but popular get "positive rep".
It just seems so "high school" to me.
But I doubt that the samba is going to change to fancy new forum software anyway... _________________

You beat me to posting something...
No major software upgrade at this point.
It's a server/network change by the web host.
They built an all-new huge data center so they are moving the Samba server into it. I don't think there will be any affect on anything.
Thanks for the feedback on the "reputation" type add-ons.
I have seen that before and know for a fact it would become an issue here with people vying for reputation, either positive or negative, so I never pursued it. _________________ How to Post Photos

I vote for easier picture uploads too.
Also, I am not sure how to upload documents, like pdf files. Excuse my ignorance but I just do not remember if you can upload pdfs or not. _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!
