Hello friends,
We are looking for interesting stops/camping spots between Missouri and North Carolina.
We did this trip in Lazarus a few years ago when he was naturally aspirated. Here we go again. Our route is still open, looking for ideas from the collective experiences
We leave early July, spend a week on the beach then head back to our real lives
Oh yeah, we have the new a/c tranny and a k14 turbo , so we can even travel at 70 mph, but we won't, we like the back roads.
New setup seem to be everything I have hoped/worked for!!
Peace

Are you staying in the northen, middle part of TN or southern? Are you looking for something specific like state parks or off the beaten path type camping areas? _________________ 1971 Transporter-SOLD

Lexington KY horse park has rv parking with and without hookups.
Make reservations if it happens to be on a horse event weekend. We
aren't real horse people (although we have one here on the ranch), but
enjoy watching the jumpers and the zebra cross country steeple chases. |

Mile High Campground on the Blueridge Parkway just a few miles out of Cherokee NC is great. South of Knoxville are Citico Creek and Indian Boundary. Indian Boundary is popular with RV's and Citico Creek is more rustic. Take the Cherohala Skyway into NC then drive north to Cherokee and catch the Blueridge. Then on to Asheville. _________________ Imagine that, theres not an "h" in either Westfalia or Syncro? |

buspor63,
Mile high Campground looks promising.
We drove the Cherohala Skyway last time, it was beautiful!
We could end up there again.
We are considering Oswald's dome (named after a doctor in the 1800's) being that is our last name also. About 14 years ago we attempted to reach the dome with our 85 vanagon with 8 passengers, one canoe and two kayaks but we blew our overflow tank. We were 15 miles off the blacktop!!
We were blessed with the kindness of strangers and had one hell of an adventure. Ended up getting parts and my first Bentley in Atlanta and came back and fixed it myself in the parking lot of a VW repair shop after being towed there.
It is always an adventure.
Thanks
David
