Hi,
I was wondering, I have a 69 speedometer that the gears are bad in. are the gears in the PRE-67 speedos the same? Will they interchange?
Thanks

Most of the speedometers are interchange able....I prefer the style that has the tenths digit. I am not sure your 69 does.

I think the odometer gearing all changed when they went to 10ths of a digit. You can see the number of teeth is not the same in this comparison of a mid 70s speedometer with a mid 60s. But not sure of what the "skinny number" 69-71 speedometer's odometer gears look like.

On the topic of odometers, I have a late one, that the gears are good in, but the gear won't stay put on the shaft. It just spins while the odometer dials stay in place. I tried gluing it once, which lasted about a mile, and then it broke again. Is there a better method to getting it to stay, or is there a bigger issue there?

I've "scored" the end of the odometer spindle by pinching it in a few places with some diagonal pliers, that gives it some more "bite" for the gear. I did that about 10 years ago on my 85 Golf and it's still working fine over 100K later. But that won't help if the gear cracks.
