|
|
I bought one of these fans for the cockpit. I like the idea of getting some cooling up front when I'm stuck in traffic which happens a lot in Chicago.
I can't figure a good place to mount this. Has anyone had any success?

Not the same one but it works. Just set it around in different locations to see where you can get worthwhile air flow. I wouldn't put it on top the dash as some people do. It blocks visability and draws hot air from the windshield area.

I'm with you. I don't want it on the dash either. I have a 78 so your location isn't an option. I was thinking maybe behind the driver, hanging from the roof.
By the way, I like your gauge cluster. Is that wood or just painted? How did you fasten it to the dash if it's wood? |

Why not just install some "ambulance fans". They actually fit. |

Because they are designed for a Bus. Don't cost $10 tho!

why would they fit any better? Mine fits fine, and it oscillates! Cost 10$. |

I mounted mine under the dash, just right of the Em. Bk. handel. I love it! |
Good idea. I'll try that out. |

OK, I understand it might make more sense logically to mount it in other locations, but you can't beat the strange, giant, wobbly, sort of loud oscillating-fan-on-the-dash AC for impressing people. Check it ouuuuuuut:

I mounted my fan on an 8" diameter aluminum plate that way I can move where I need it like on the passenger seat or on the floor and it is very stable.

I've got one clamped on the passengers side window visor. It can be in the way at times, but it pulls in cool air from the passengers vent window. It's just held up there with one of those beefy clothes line clip type things. _________________ 1978 Westfalia |

The one I have doesn't have a fancy schmancy clip. Looks like a hard mount...but that doesn't mean I can't make one. I just don't have the time as I'm leaving on a trip on Sat or Sun. |
