Are your bushing pressed into the spindles correctly?

i belive so. its not really the bushings on the link pin that is binding up
it seems like im having a hard time camber set right with the shims.
so the arms seem to be pulling against each other

ex( top pin has two shims on the inside and six on the out side of the bushing and on the bottom it calls for 5 shims on the inside and three on the outside)

im about to try and work it out right now so we will see if i can get things working smoothly...

also i am using some althread as my through rods.
would it be a good idea to buy the "through rod kit"?

i fixed my binding problem.

but now when i cycle through my travel my arm movesin and out on my king pin about a inch from full compression too full droop.. Confused

full droop...

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

full compression.

i did some reading on setting the shims for the correct camber and to messure the offset of the arms you use a straight edge and ruler.

the standard offset is 5.5 to 8 mm

my arms have almost no offset maybe 1mm

so i will be doing some more reserch on this.

it seems my beam is bent. Sad

my passenger side is off by just a little bit. the bottom tube more than the top.

so now i have a few options

1. try and straighten out my beam...

2. build my own beam...

3. buy a new beam.

if there was an easy enough way to straighten out my beam, i would deffinatly do that.. although this beam is set up for torrision bars and has the adjusters. and there is no need for them because i will be running coils. i do plan on cutting all the shock towers off.

so it might be in my best interest to build my own beam...

I think building your beam would be cool, and nice, maybe cheaper. i dunno about labor though. you're running 10inch towers?

i will be incorporating my shock into my cage so im not too sure what the exact hight will be.
i will be building around 12inch shocks.

but i think building my beam would be preety cool too Very Happy

ive been looking around at different beams and there seems to be a lot of variations.

one tube being bigger than the other, tube size and all that good stuff.

chromoly/ dom... chromoly would probably be the better choice but ive heard it is a process welding on chromoly. i just wouldnt want my welds too fail

Chromoly is a hybrid metal, and from my understanding as you said, is more of a process. I dont think that you want to weld that yourself if you dont know how too. especially on such a crucial part. maybe if you got plenty of practice pieces. but, sounds badass that your building such a stellar ride. mine will never be that sweet.

not with that attitude Wink
haha you could totaly build yours up if you wanted too, you have mad potential with your car.

i have done a little welding on chromoly tube, part of my cage was chromoly. it seemed to penetrate and such but like you said i would not want to take the risk of my beam failing due to a fualty weld.

Lol the only reason why i say it wont be as far built as yours is because i choose not to build it that far. if im going to put that much money into it i'd rather have a full size 4 seater rail that i can my friends out in have a blast rather then have one at a time.

If you've welded before, get some practice pieces. That's what i would do, if i had the means to weld.. (my dad got rid of most of metal fab shop we used to have in the garage Crying or Very sad )

If you have a facebook, you're more then welcome to hit me up on mine, my links in my signature.

as for welding that beam i think i will look more into this, get a little more practice and have alot of people over look my work Smile

Laughing

it doesnt seem too be too bad... but it is enough too throw my arms out of whack

and when i cycle my arms and spindles there seems too be a lot of binding. just on the passenger side though.

ive been looking around and i found a warrior beam 6 inch over stock. without shock towers and adjusters for 80 bucks. so that caught my attention Very Happy

but i am also thinking it would be better to build my own out of chromoly...

any thoughts?

a few updates.....

a few of my friends and i went in four ways on a tubing bender. jd2 model three with a 1 1/2 180 degree die. dont have pictures yet but i will get them up soon enough.

i bought a rack and pinion and a new beam that i thought solve my binding and shifting problems.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

but the new beam hardly changed anything Confused

so now im thinking my arms where built incorectly or my spindles are bent....
